Initial setup & requirements
Workspace and Equipment
3D Printers: We recommend 3-4 3D printers for efficient production of parts. Bambu Lab printers are highly recommended for their speed and precision.
Mounting Space: Ensure you have a workspace with sufficient ceiling height to mount assemblies and subassemblies securely during the build process.
Powerful PC: A high-performance computer is essential to run simulations, reinforcement learning (RL) models, and AI tasks. Minimum specs:
GPU: RTX 3080 or higher
RAM: 64GB+
Storage: 10GB for large model files and simulations.
OS: Linux or Windows running WSL.
Skills and Tools
Basic CAD Modeling: You should have some familiarity with CAD software for modifying and customizing the robot’s parts.
Simulation Software: Comfort with simulators (like Gazebo or RViZ) for testing robot behaviors before deploying on real hardware.
Electronics Knowledge: Basic understanding of electronics for wiring components, managing power systems, and troubleshooting.
Other Essentials
Soldering Kit: For assembling and maintaining electronic components.
Hand Tools: Standard tools for mechanical assembly, like screwdrivers, pliers, and wrenches.
Stable Internet Connection: For remote operation, software updates, and accessing cloud-based services for AI models.
Patience
Building and running Dropbear is no simple task—it’s a complex project that will test your patience and skills. But stick with it, and you’ll have a humanoid robot capable of incredible things. This is where the future starts, and you’re part of the crew making it happen ❤️
